COVID-19 Update 20/08/2021

Hello all,

Annual Camp

Due to the uncertainty of current COVID-19 levels in the country we have made the decision to cancel this years Annual camp in Greymouth. I know a lot of Kung Fu students have been looking forward to this event but unfortunately we must do the responsible thing.

We are however planning on holding the camp on an alternative date in Christchurch (Chan's Martial Arts HQ) which will run on the same timetable as the Greymouth camp. Starting Friday October 1st and ending Sunday October 3rd. This camp will only run should Christchurch be at alert level 1. We believe setting the date now for October will give us the best chance to be able to run the camp without any restrictions.

Options we will give to students who have enrolled for camp:

1) Full refund of the camp fee (including dinner and/or assistant instructors course)

2) Defer your camp fees (including dinner and/or assistant instructors course) to Christchurch October 1st.

3) Defer your camp fees (including dinner and/or assistant instructors course) for the planned 2022 Annual camp (location and date TBA).

Please let us know as soon as possible if you have enrolled for camp what option you wish to take and we will do our best to accommodate you. If you wish to receive a refund please provide us with your bank account number.

If you were unable to attend the Greymouth camp next week but are now able to attend the Christchurch camp in October then let us know and we can sign you up! We will keep the fee at the Earlybird rate of $160.

Online Classes

In the mean time we will be providing a full schedule of online classes via Zoom while physical classes are off.

Tuesday: Kung Fu (5:30pm), Tai Chi (6:30pm)
Wednesday: Tai Chi (12 noon)
Thursday: Kung Fu (5:30pm), Tai Chi (6:30pm)
Friday: Tai Chi Instructors (5:30pm), Blackbelts (6:30pm)

If you wish to attend these classes please send us a message with:

Your name, Branch, Kung Fu/Tai Chi (or both), Tai Chi Instructors/Blackbelt (or both).

We are restricted to 100 people per class on Zoom which is why we will be only sending out links to those who will attend. If we hit capacity it will be first in first served.

If you attend online class we ask that you continue your student fees to your branch if possible. If you attend the TC Instructors or Blackbelt class please make a $10 per class payment to HQ.

Plans

These are the current plans for now. We are hoping for a speedy containment of the current COVID-19 cluster so that normality can resume soon. But in the mean time we should all stay strong, be healthy and support one another.

Be well and stay safe.

WaiHoe Chan Laoshi
